The nurse sighed as she went from bed to bed, checking the patients one by one. There had been a lull in the frantic action that day and she’d been told to check up on the patients in intensive care since she had a moment of spare time. She could be having a quick lunch break right now or taking a much needed rest and a chance to sit down; instead she was striding down the aisle, looking at the dozens of faces twisted in pain or blank from lack of consciousness.

One face, however, was not as she had expected to see it. A gasp escaped her and she nearly dropped her clipboard to the floor; one of the ward’s coma patient’s eyes were open, and staring straight at her. Utterly caught off guard she quickly stepped to his bedside, noticing that his eyes actually followed her movement rather than stare blankly into the distance. He was waking up! As she stood beside him though his eyelids slowly closed again, and she waited only a few moments after they closed to turn and rush down the hall, “Doctor! I need a doctor in intensive care!”

Still not open for questions yet as he’s only been able to open his eyes for short periods of time. He’d been comatose for about a month, hence the excess facial fuzz ;v;
